On October 19, 2019, Hermine Ocuncakciel, Chairwoman of Orran USA Board of Directors, Sayat Oruncakciel, Chairman of Annual Fundraising Gala and Armenia Marriott Hotel hosted a luncheon for the Laureates of the Aurora Prize, the children of Orran and the students of the United World College Dilijan (UWC). The three parties had gathered for camaraderie and to discuss humanitarian issues concerning them.
The guests were first greeted by a small performance by the children of Orran and UWC, who as part of their presentation, invited the guests to be part of a living collage. Joining them was renowned artist Tigran Tsitoghdzyan. The Laureates and the children/students were paired to think together of an alarming issue in the world and to write them on ceramic bells prepared by the Orran children.
At the end of the event, the children and the Laureates hung their bells on a small model of the Sardarapat monument.
“Th union of these three parties was very fitting. Orran on a national level does what the Laureates do in their own respective countries, of course on a much bigger scale and in a much demanding environment – we take care of the poor, the needy, the destitute children and the lonely elderly. In turn the UWC students volunteer at Orran. We chose Sardarapat because this grand monument symbolizes courage and victory which each of the Laureates represents.” states Armine K. Hovannisian, founder of Orran.
